Next iPhone 8 will feature a curved screen
The next iPhone 8 will reportedly feature a curved screen and it will not be cheap. According to The Wall Street Journal, one model of Apple’s signature smartphone will include a curved OLED display. The model will also costs around $1,000, says the report. The latest version of the device, iPhone 7, starts at $649.
The report also claims Apple will replace the Lightning connector with the increasingly popular USB-C standard. And also remove the physical home button.
Apple (iPhone 8) declined comment on the report.
Expectations are high for the next iPhone, with 2017 marking the 10th anniversary the smartphone first went on sale. Another possible feature users could see in the next iPhone, a move to wireless charging, after Apple joined the Wireless Power Consortium.
The new Apple Phone could help Apple continue the rebound in iPhone sales, which had been lagging until the first quarter, when sales of the iPhone jumped from a year ago.
The introduction of a curved display will follow suit with rival Samsung, which has a curved screen on some of its models like the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S7 Edge.
