Google Allo, Google’s New Smart Messaging App, Has Been Launched

Google has finally launched its much anticipated messaging app named ‘Allo’. Google Allo is a messaging app for Android and iOS that uses artificial intelligence to deliver a better chatting experience.

Like most messaging apps, it lets you write text message or send pictures, emojis and stickers. However, there are a couple of features that make Google Allo stand out from the crowd.

The first feature is ‘Smart Reply’ function that lets users respond to messages without ever typing. The app can learn your texting habits and suggest quick replies for more basic communication. Over time, Allo will learn whether you’re more prone to using “haha” or “lol,” so the more you use the predictive feature, the better it will get at mimicking your speech style.

Allo also has an interesting feature called ‘Incognito’ mode. Like Chrome, Incognito Mode on Allo puts you under the radar and off the grid. When chatting in Incognito mode, messages will be sent using end-to-end encryption and additional privacy features like discreet notifications and message expiration.

Since all your messages are end-to-end encrypted, they’ll only be seen by you and the person you’re talking to. So if you need to have a secret conversation with someone, you can use this mode. You can also message friends who aren’t yet using Google Allo via SMS with it and it’s totally free.

The other interesting thing is how Google has incorporated its own bot-based Google Assistant on the app. Google Assistant is an artificially intelligent chatbot that will help you find information. For example, you could ask it to send you daily updates on news, sport, weather, or your upcoming flights status.

You can also use it to find places around you, make plans, or research holiday destinations, flights and hotels with your friends.

You can have one-on-one conversations with Google Assistant or type @google to bring it into a group chat. It’s a great way to make plans with other people without having to switch between apps or send screenshots of search results.

As with other messaging apps, Allo users will be able to find people to chat to based on their phone numbers, and those that use Google accounts for services like Gmail will also be able to call in their contacts from those services.
